Context of Psalms 4:7
5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the Lord. 6There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. 8I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Thou hast put gladness in my heart - Thou hast given my soul what it wanted and wished for. I find now a happiness which earthly things could not produce. I have peace of conscience, and joy in the Holy Ghost; such inward happiness as they cannot boast who have got the highest increase of corn and wine; those Two Things in the abundance of which many suppose happiness to be found.
