Context of Psalms 4:7
5Offer righteous sacrifices; Trust [confidently] in the Lord. 6Many are saying, “Oh, that we might see some good!” Lift up the light of Your face upon us, O Lord. You have put joy in my heart, More than [others know] when their wheat and new wine have yielded abundantly. 8In peace [and with a tranquil heart] I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety and confident trust.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Thou hast put gladness in my heart - Thou hast given my soul what it wanted and wished for. I find now a happiness which earthly things could not produce. I have peace of conscience, and joy in the Holy Ghost; such inward happiness as they cannot boast who have got the highest increase of corn and wine; those Two Things in the abundance of which many suppose happiness to be found. To corn and wine all the versions, except the Chaldee, add oil; for corn…Read the comment
