Context of Psalms 105:18
16He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. 17He sent a man ahead of them – Joseph was sold as a servant. The shackles hurt his feet; his neck was placed in an iron collar, 19until the time when his prediction came true. The Lord’s word proved him right. 20The king authorized his release; the ruler of nations set him free.

The margin is, “his soul came into iron.” The version in the Prayer-Book of the Episcopal Church is, the iron entered into his soul. This is a more striking and beautiful rendering, though it may be doubted whether the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-23Verses 8-23 Let us remember the Redeemer's marvellous works, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth. Though true Christians are few number, strangers and pilgrims upon earth, yet a far better inheritance than Canaan is made sure to them by the covenant of God; and if we have the anointing of the Holy Spirit, none can do us any harm.
