Context of Matthew 24:41
39And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one left. There will be two women grinding grain with a mill; one will be taken and one left. 42“Therefore stay alert, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have been alert and would not have let his house be broken into.

One took hold of the mill-handle and turned it half-way round; the other then seized it and completed the revolution. This was done by women - by servants of the lowest…Read the comment

At his first coming, he was set for a sign that should be spoken against, but at his second coming, a sign…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 40-41The word taken most likely means taken in judgment, either in AD 70 or at the end of history. Left would then mean remaining to enter a new time. This new time could be the age of the church (see 21:43; 22:1–14) or the thousand–year reign of Christ on earth (the Millennium).Read the comment
