Context of Mark 8:31
29He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” 30Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. Then Jesus began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32He spoke openly about this. So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33But after turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 27-33Verses 27-33 These things are written, that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. These miracles of our Lord assure us that he was not conquered, but a Conqueror. Now the disciples are convinced that Jesus is the Christ; they may bear to hear of his sufferings, of which Christ here begins to give them notice. He sees that amiss in what we say and do, of which we ourselves are not aware, and knows what manner of spirit we are of, when we…Read the comment

Three days later, he would rise from the dead. after three days: This has the same meaning as "on the third day" and "will be three days and three nights" (Matthew 16:21; Luke 9:22; Matthew…Read the comment
