Context of Luke 23:50
48Crowds had gathered to see the sight. But when all of them saw what had happened, they cried and returned to the city. 49All his friends, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance and watched everything. There was a good man who had God’s approval. His name was Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish council, 51but he had not agreed with what they had done. He was from the Jewish city of Arimathea, and he was waiting for God’s kingdom. 52He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
