Context of John 9:38
36The man replied, “Sir, tell me who he is so that I can believe in him.” 37Jesus told him, “You’ve seen him. He is the person who is now talking with you.” The man bowed in front of Jesus and said, “I believe, Lord.” 39Then Jesus said, “I have come into this world to judge: Blind people will be given sight, and those who can see will become blind.” 40Some Pharisees who were with Jesus heard this. So they asked him, “Do you think we’re blind?”

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 38And he said, Lord, I believe - That is, I believe thou art the Messiah; and, to give the fullest proof of the sincerity of his faith, he fell down before and adored him. Never having seen Jesus before, but simply knowing that a person of that name had opened his eyes, he had only considered him as a holy man and a prophet; but now that he sees and hears him he is convinced of his divinity, and glorifies him as his Savior. There is particular notice taken of such a suffer in the cause of Christ, and for the testimony of a good conscience. Our Lord Jesus graciously reveals himself to the man. Now he was made sensible what an unspeakable mercy it was, to be cured of his blindness, that he might see the Son of God. None but God is to be worshipped; so that in worshipping Jesus, he owned him to be God. All who…Read the comment
