Proverbs 23:29
2918. People who drink too much wine have many problems. Do you see someone who is in trouble? Someone who is very sad? Someone who argues or complains all the time? Do you see someone with wounds on his body for no reason, or someone with red eyes? Then you are looking at someone who likes to drink wine until late at night. He is someone who likes to try different drinks.

Context of Proverbs 23:29
27Prostitutes are a dangerous trap for men. Women who are not faithful to their husbands can cause men to fall into danger, like a deep well. 28They are like robbers who wait to attack people. They take more and more men away from their wives. 18. 31So do not even look at that beautiful red wine! Do not think about the pleasure it would give to you.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 29Who hath wo? - I believe Solomon refers here to the natural effects of drunkenness. And perhaps אוי oi, which we translate wo, and אבוי aboi, which we translate sorrow, are mere natural sounds or vociferations that take place among drunken men, either from illness, or the nauseating effects of too much liquor. As to contentions among such, babblings on a variety of subjects, which they neither understand nor are fit to discuss; wounds, got by falling out…Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 29-35Verses 29-35 Solomon warns against drunkenness. The tongue grows unruly; the heart utters things contrary to reason, religion, and common…Read the comment
