Context of Matthew 25:27
25and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine. 26And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered; thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest. 28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents: 29for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 27The exchangers - The “exchangers” were persons who were in the habit of borrowing money, or receiving it on deposit at a low rate of interest, to be loaned to others at higher interest. They commonly sat by “tables” in the temple, with money ready to exchange or loan. See Matthew 21:12. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 14-30Verses 14-30 Christ keeps no servants to be idle: they have received their all from him, and have nothing they can call their own but sin. Our receiving from Christ is in order to our working for him. The manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. The day of account comes at last. We must all be reckoned with as to what good we have got to our own souls, and have done to others, by the advantages we have enjoyed. It is not meant…Read the comment
