Context of Ezekiel 21:25
23It will seem like false divination to those who have sworn an oath to the Babylonians, but it will draw attention to their guilt so that they will be captured. 24“Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: Because you have drawn attention to your guilt, exposing your transgressions, so that your sins are revealed in all your actions — since you have done this, you will be captured by them. And you, profane and wicked prince of Israel, the day has come for your punishment. 26“This is what the Lord God says: Remove the turban, and take off the crown. Things will not remain as they are; exalt the lowly and bring down the exalted. 27A ruin, a ruin, I will make it a ruin! Yet this will not happen until he comes; I have given the judgment to him.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 18-27Verses 18-27 By the Spirit of prophecy Ezekiel foresaw Nebuchadnezzar's march from Babylon, which he would determine by divination. The Lord would overturn the government of Judah, till the coming of Him whose right it is. This seems to foretell the overturnings of the Jewish nation to the present day, and the troubles of states and kingdoms, which shall make way for establishing the Messiah's kingdom throughout the earth. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 25-27This judgment would affect Zedekiah, the corrupt and wicked leader of Israel, and the people. Ezekiel refers to Zedekiah by his title, showing that his position was also judged. He would lose his royal symbols and be humbled, while the Lord would lift up the humble. The old order would face destruction. the arrival of Him … to whom I have assigned the right of judgment: Many people understand this coming judge to be the Messiah (God’s chosen one), as in…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2525. profane--as having desecrated by idolatry and perjury his office as the Lord's anointed. Havernick translates, as in Eze 21:14, "slain," that is, not literally, but virtually; to Ezekiel's idealizing view Zedekiah was the grand victim "pierced through" by God's sword of judgment, as his sons were slain before his eyes, which were then put out, and he was led a captive in chains to Babylon.
