Context of Acts 2:42
40With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, “Be saved from this corrupt generation!” 41So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44Now all the believers were together and held all things in common.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 42They continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine - They received it, retained it, and acted on its principles. They kept close to holy ordinances, and abounded in piety and devotion; for Christianity, when admitted in the power of it, will dispose the soul to communion with God in all those ways wherein he has appointed us to meet him, and has promised to meet us. The difficulty can only be removed by supposing that they already employed sprinkling, or baptized in houses in large vessels.
