Context of Zechariah 4:3
1Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and woke me, as a man is awakened from his sleep. 2“What do you see?” he asked. “I see a solid gold lampstand,” I replied, “with a bowl at the top and seven lamps on it, with seven spouts to the lamps. There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left.” 4“What are these, my lord?” I asked the angel who was speaking with me. 5“Do you not know what they are?” replied the angel. “No, my lord,” I answered.

Commentaries on Zechariah 4:3
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2-3gold lampstand: The golden menorah in the Tabernacle was first described in Exodus 25:31. A similar lampstand was later placed in the new temple. It served as a symbol of God’s purity and holiness and of the light that comes from his revelation. The two olive trees represent the roles of priest and king in Israel. They symbolize Jeshua and Zerubbabel. The golden oil represents God's Holy Spirit (see also Zechariah 4:12–14).Read the comment
