Context of Zechariah 4:3
1The angel who was speaking with me then returned and roused me as one awakened out of sleep. 2He asked me, “What do you see?” I replied, “I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top. The lampstand also has seven lamps at the top with seven spouts for each of the lamps. There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.” 4Then I asked the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?” 5“Don’t you know what they are?” replied the angel who was speaking with me. I said, “No, my lord.”

Commentaries on Zechariah 4:3
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2-3gold lampstand: The golden menorah in the Tabernacle was first described in Exodus 25:31. A similar lampstand was later placed in the new temple. It served as a symbol of God’s purity and holiness and of the light that comes from his revelation. The two olive trees represent the roles of priest and king in Israel. They symbolize Jeshua and Zerubbabel. The golden oil represents God's Holy Spirit (see also Zechariah 4:12–14).Read the comment
