Context of Zechariah 4:3
1Then the angel who had been talking with me returned and woke me, as though I had been asleep. 2“What do you see now?” he asked. I answered, “I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl of oil on top of it. Around the bowl are seven lamps, each having seven spouts with wicks. And I see two olive trees, one on each side of the bowl.” 4Then I asked the angel, “What are these, my lord? What do they mean?” 5“Don’t you know?” the angel asked. “No, my lord,” I replied.

Commentaries on Zechariah 4:3
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2-3gold lampstand: The golden menorah in the Tabernacle was first described in Exodus 25:31. A similar lampstand was later placed in the new temple. It served as a symbol of God’s purity and holiness and of the light that comes from his revelation. The two olive trees represent the roles of priest and king in Israel. They symbolize Jeshua and Zerubbabel. The golden oil represents God's Holy Spirit (see also Zechariah 4:12–14).Read the comment
