Context of Psalms 37:17
15The sword [of the ungodly] will enter their own heart, And their bow will be broken. 16Better is the little of the righteous [who seek the will of God] Than the abundance (riches) of many wicked (godless). For the arms of the wicked will be broken, But the Lord upholds and sustains the righteous [who seek Him]. 18The Lord knows the days of the blameless, And their inheritance will continue forever. 19They will not be ashamed in the time of evil, And in the days of famine they will have plenty and be satisfied.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken - See the notes at Psalm 10:15. The “arm” is the instrument by which we accomplish a purpose; and the meaning here is, that that will be broken on which the wicked rely, or, in other words, that their plans will fail, and that they will be disappointed - as a man is rendered helpless whose arms are broken. It comes from a hand of special love. God provides plentifully and well, not only for his…Read the comment
