Context of Psalms 71:2
1In You, Adonai, have I taken refuge. Let me never be ashamed. Deliver me and rescue me in Your justice. Turn Your ear to me and save me. 3Be to me a sheltering rock where I may always go. Give the command to save me— for You are my rock and my fortress. 4My God, rescue me out of the hand of the wicked, out of the grasp of an evil, ruthless man.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2Deliver me in thy righteousness - See the notes at Psalm 31:1. The first three verses of this psalm seem in fact to have been taken, with slight variations, from the first three verses of Psalm 31:2, this is, “Bow down thine ear to me.” The idea is the same. See the notes at that place. Compare the notes at Psalm 17:6. And save me - In Psalm 31:2, this is, “Deliver me speedily.”Read the comment
