Context of Psalms 71:2
1In you, O Lord, I have put my trust and confidently taken refuge; Let me never be put to shame. In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me and save me. 3Be to me a rock of refuge and a sheltering stronghold to which I may continually come; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. 4Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked (godless), From the grasp of the unrighteous and ruthless man.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2Deliver me in thy righteousness - See the notes at Psalm 31:1. See the notes at that place. Compare the notes at Psalm 17:6. And save me - In Psalm 31:2, this is, “Deliver me speedily.”Read the comment
