Context of Psalms 71:2
1In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me. 3Be my rock of refuge, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. 4Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2Deliver me in thy righteousness - See the notes at Psalm 31:1. The first three verses of this psalm seem in fact to have been taken, with slight variations, from the first three verses of Psalm 31:2, this is, “Bow down thine ear to me.” The idea is the same. See the notes at that place. Compare the notes at Psalm 17:6. And save me - In Psalm 31:2, this is, “Deliver me speedily.”Read the comment
