Context of Ezekiel 27:35
33When your merchandise came out from the seas, you satisfied many people. With the abundance of your wealth and your wares you enriched the kings of the earth. 34Now you are shattered by the seas in the depths of the waters. Your merchandise and all your company have fallen in your midst. All the inhabitants of the coastlands are appalled at you. Their kings are horribly afraid, their faces are convulsed. 36The merchants among the people hiss at you. You have become a horror and will be no more.’”

Those who make creatures their confidence, and rest their hopes upon them, will fall with them: happy are those who have the God of Jacob for their Help, and whose hope is in the Lord their God, who lives for ever. Those who engage in trade should learn to conduct their business according to God's word. Those who possess wealth should remember they are the Lord's…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-36The second part of the prophet’s message to Tyre (see study note on Ezekiel 26:1–28:19) is a funeral song. The song compares Tyre’s past glory with its present loss. It connects with the previous chapter in several ways. Both speak directly to Tyre. Both describe Tyre as a gateway and a center of trade (see Ezekiel 26:1–2). Both end with the same message: Tyre has come to a terrible end and will exist no more (compare Ezekiel 26:21).Read the comment
