Context of Ezekiel 27:35
33Your valuable things went to many people in nations across the sea. People were happy with the things that they received from you. Even kings in far places became rich because of you. 34Now the sea has broken you into pieces. You have fallen to the bottom of the deep sea. All your valuable things and the people who worked in you lie at the bottom of the sea. The people who live on the coast of the sea are afraid, because of what has happened to you. Their kings shake with fear. Their faces look very sad. 36Traders from other nations keep away from you. A terrible thing has happened to you. It will be the end of you for ever.” ’

Those who make creatures their confidence, and rest their hopes upon them, will fall with them: happy are those who have the God of Jacob for their Help, and whose hope is in the Lord their God, who lives for ever. Those who engage in trade should learn to conduct their business according to God's word. Those who possess wealth should remember they are the Lord's…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-36The second part of the prophet’s message to Tyre (see study note on Ezekiel 26:1–28:19) is a funeral song. The song compares Tyre’s past glory with its present loss. It connects with the previous chapter in several ways. Both speak directly to Tyre. Both describe Tyre as a gateway and a center of trade (see Ezekiel 26:1–2). Both end with the same message: Tyre has come to a terrible end and will exist no more (compare Ezekiel 26:21).Read the comment
