Context of 2 Chronicles 15:18
16He also deposed Maacah, the mother of King Asa, from being queen because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. Asa cut down her abominable image, crushed it and burned it in the Kidron Valley. 17Though the high places were not removed from Israel, still Asa’s heart was completely committed to Adonai all his days. He brought into the House of God his father’s consecrated articles, as well as his consecrated articles of silver and gold, and utensils. 19So there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 18The things that his father had dedicated - As it was a custom to dedicate a part of the spoils taken from an enemy to the service and honor of God, it is natural to suppose that Abijah, having so signally overthrown Jeroboam, ( 2 Chronicles 13:15-19;), had dedicated a part of the spoils to the Lord; but they had not been brought into the temple till this time. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 8-18The Chronicler described Asa’s response using the prophet’s exact words, but Asa's actions exceeded the general advice. When Asa heard the prophecy, he bravely started a wide-ranging reform. He began by removing the offensive idols that had returned to the land (see 2 Chronicles 14:5). Complete trust in God had won the war against the Cushites, and fully renewing the covenant brought peace to the promised land (2 Chronicles 15:15).Read the comment

Both of these were now deposited in the temple as votive offerings to Him whose right hand and holy arm had given them the victory.Read the comment
