Context of Ezekiel 7:14
12The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all their multitude. 13For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is concerning their whole multitude, who shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life. They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all their multitude. 15The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him. 16But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 14When Israel sounded the trumpet in holy war (a battle fought in the name of the Lord), something different would happen. In the past, the troops would gather quickly. The enemy would become afraid and confused (see Numbers 10:9; Joshua 6:4–20; Judges 6:34; 7:16–22; Nehemiah 4:18–20). But now, when the trumpet sounded, the soldiers would not rally. The enemy would not be terrified. The old victories would not be repeated.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1414. They have blown the trumpet--rather, "Blow the trumpet," or, "Let them blow the trumpet" to collect soldiers as they will, "to make all ready" for encountering the foe, it will be of no avail; none will have the courage to go to the battle (compare Jr 6:1), [Calvin].Read the comment
