Proverbs 12
Revised Version 1895
1Whoso loveth correctionH4148 loveth knowledgeH1847: but he that hateth reproofH8433 is brutish. 2A goodH2896 manH376 shall obtainH6329 favour of the LORDH3068: but a manH376 of wickedH7561 devicesH4209 will he condemnH7561. 3A manH120 shall notH3808 be establishedH3559 by wickednessH7562: but the rootH8328 of the righteousH6662 shall neverH3808 be movedH4131. 4A virtuous womanH802 is a crownH5850 to herH802 husbandH1167: but she that maketh ashamedH954 is as rottennessH7538 in his bonesH6106. 5The thoughtsH4284 of the righteousH6662 are justH4941: but the counselsH8458 of the wickedH7563 are deceitH4820. 6The wordsH1697 of the wickedH7563 are of lyingH693 in waitH693 for bloodH1818: but the mouthH6310 of the uprightH3477 shall deliverH5337 them. 7The wickedH7563 are overthrownH2015, and are notH369: but the houseH1004 of the righteousH6662 shall standH5975. 8A manH376 shall be commended accordingH6310 to his wisdomH3820: but he that is of a perverse heartH3820 shall be despisedH937. 9BetterH2896 is he that is lightlyH7034 esteemedH7034, and hath a servantH5650, thanH2896 he that honoureth himselfH3513, and lacketh breadH3899. 10A righteousH6662 manH7563 regardeth the lifeH5315 of his beastH929: but the tender merciesH7356 of the wickedH7563 are cruelH394. 11He that tilleth his landH127 shall have plentyH7646 of breadH3899: but he that followeth afterH7291 vain persons is void of understandingH3820. 12The wickedH7563 desireth the net of evilH7451 menH7563: but the rootH8328 of the righteousH6662 yieldeth fruit. 13In the transgressionH6588 of the lipsH8193 is a snareH4170 to the evilH7451 manH6662: but the righteousH6662 shall comeH3318 outH3318 of troubleH7451. 14A manH376 shall be satisfiedH7646 with goodH2896 by the fruitH6529 of his mouthH6310: and the doings of a man’sH376 handsH3027 shall be rendered unto him. 15The wayH1870 of the foolishH191 is rightH3477 in his ownH5869 eyesH5869: but he that is wiseH2450 hearkeneth unto counselH6098. 16A fool’sH191 vexation is presently knownH3045: but a prudentH6175 manH6175 concealeth shameH7036. 17He that uttereth truthH530 sheweth forth righteousnessH6664, but a falseH8267 witnessH5707 deceitH4820. 18There is that speaketh rashlyH981 like the piercings of a swordH2719: but the tongueH3956 of the wiseH2450 is healthH4832. 19The lipH8193 of truthH571 shall be establishedH3559 for everH5703: but a lyingH8267 tongueH3956 is but for a moment. 20DeceitH4820 is in the heartH3820 of them that devise evilH7451: but to the counsellors of peaceH7965 is joyH8057. 21There shall noH3808 mischief happen to the righteousH6662: but the wickedH7563 shall be filledH4390 with evilH7451. 22LyingH8267 lipsH8193 are an abominationH8441 to the LORDH3068: but they that dealH6213 truly are his delightH7522. 23A prudentH6175 manH120 concealeth knowledgeH1847: but the heartH3820 of foolsH3684 proclaimeth foolishnessH200. 24The handH3027 of the diligent shall bear ruleH4910: but the slothful shall be putH3027 underH3027 taskwork. 25Heaviness in the heartH3820 of a manH376 maketh it stoop; but a goodH2896 wordH1697 maketh it gladH8055. 26The righteousH6662 is a guideH8446 to his neighbour: but the wayH1870 of the wickedH7563 causeth them to errH8582. 27The slothful manH120 roasteth notH3808 that which he took in hunting: but the preciousH3368 substanceH1952 of menH120 is to the diligent. 28In the wayH1870 of righteousnessH6666 is lifeH2416; and in the pathwayH1870 thereof there is noH408 deathH4194.
