Jonah 1:4-16
But the LORDH3068 sent outH413 a greatH1419 windH7307 intoH413 the seaH3220, and there was a mightyH1419 tempestH5591 in the seaH3220, soH1961 that the shipH591 was like to be brokenH7665.
Then the mariners were afraidH3372, and criedH2199 everyH376 manH376 unto his godH430; and they castH2904 forth the wares that were in the shipH591 intoH413 the seaH3220, to lightenH7043 it unto them. But JonahH3124 was goneH3381 downH3381 intoH413 the innermostH3411 partsH3411 of the shipH591; and he layH7901, and was fast asleep.
SoH7121 the shipmaster cameH7126 to him, and saidH559 unto him, WhatH4100 meanest thou, O sleeper? ariseH6965, callH7121 uponH7121 thy GodH430, ifH194 soH7121 be that GodH430 will thinkH559 uponH7121 usH413, that we perishH6 notH3808.
And they saidH559 everyH376 one to his fellowH376, ComeH5307, and let usH413 castH5307 lotsH1486, that we may knowH3045 for whoseH4310 cause this evilH7451 is uponH5921 usH413. SoH5921 they castH5307 lotsH1486, and the lotH1486 fellH5307 uponH5921 JonahH3124.
Then saidH559 they unto him, TellH5046 usH4994, weH834 prayH4994 thee, for whoseH834 cause this evilH7451 is uponH935 usH4994; whatH4100 is thine occupationH4399? and whence comest thou? whatH4100 is thy countryH776? and of whatH4100 peopleH5971 art thou?
And he saidH559 unto them, I am an HebrewH5680; and I fearH3373 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of heavenH8064, whichH834 hath madeH6213 the seaH3220 and the dryH3004 landH3004.
Then were the menH376 exceedinglyH1419 afraidH3372, and saidH559 unto him, WhatH4100 is this that thou hast doneH6213? For the menH376 knewH3045 that he fledH1272 from the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068, becauseH3588 he had toldH5046 them.
Then saidH559 they unto him, WhatH4100 shall weH3588 doH6213 unto thee, that the seaH3220 may be calmH8367 unto usH413? for the seaH3220 grewH1980 moreH5921 and moreH5921 tempestuous.
And he saidH559 unto them, TakeH5375 meH413 upH5375, and castH2904 meH413 forthH3045 intoH413 the seaH3220; soH5375 shall the seaH3220 be calmH8367 unto youH3588: for I knowH3045 that for my sakeH5921 this greatH1419 tempestH5591 is uponH5921 youH3588.
NeverthelessH3588 the menH376 rowedH2864 hard to getH1980 them backH7725 to the landH3004; but they couldH3201 notH3808: for the seaH3220 grewH1980 moreH3808 and moreH3808 tempestuous againstH5921 them.
Wherefore they criedH7121 unto the LORDH3068, and saidH559, WeH3588 beseechH577 thee, O LORDH3068, weH3588 beseechH577 thee, letH4994 usH5414 notH408 perishH6 for this man’sH376 lifeH5315, and layH5414 notH408 uponH5921 usH5414 innocentH5355 bloodH1818: for thou, O LORDH3068, hast doneH6213 as it pleasedH2654 thee.
SoH5375 they tookH5375 upH5375 JonahH3124, and castH2904 him forthH5375 intoH413 the seaH3220: and the seaH3220 ceased from herH413 ragingH2197.
Then the menH376 fearedH3372 the LORDH3068 exceedinglyH1419; and they offeredH2076 a sacrificeH2077 unto the LORDH3068, and madeH5087 vowsH5088.
