Revised Version 1895
Joel 2:1-15
BlowH8628 ye the trumpetH7782 in ZionH6726, and soundH7321 an alarmH7321 in my holyH6944 mountainH2022; let allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 trembleH7264: for the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 cometh, for it is nigh at handH7138;
a dayH3117 of darknessH2822 and gloominess, a dayH3117 of cloudsH6051 and thickH6205 darknessH2822, as the dawnH7837 spreadH6566 uponH5921 the mountainsH2022; a greatH7227 peopleH5971 and a strongH6099, there hath notH3808 been everH5769 the like, neitherH3808 shall be anyH4480 moreH4480 afterH310 them, evenH5704 to the yearsH8141 of manyH7227 generationsH1755.
A fireH784 devoureth beforeH6440 them; and behindH310 them a flameH3852 burneth: the landH776 is as the gardenH1588 of EdenH5731 beforeH6440 them, and behindH310 them a desolateH8077 wildernessH4057; yea, and noneH3808 hath escapedH6413 them.
The appearanceH4758 of them is as the appearanceH4758 of horsesH5483; and as horsemenH6571, soH3651 do they runH7323.
Like the noiseH6963 of chariotsH4818 on the topsH7218 of the mountainsH2022 do they leapH7540, like the noiseH6963 of a flameH3851 of fireH784 that devoureth the stubbleH7179, as a strongH6099 peopleH5971 set in battleH4421 arrayH4421.
At their presenceH6440 the peoplesH5971 are in anguishH2342: allH3605 facesH6440 are waxed paleH6289.
They runH7323 like mightyH1368 menH376; they climbH5927 the wallH2346 like menH376 of warH4421; and they march everyH376 one on his waysH1870, and they break notH3808 their ranks.
NeitherH3808 doth one thrust anotherH251; they march everyH376 one in his pathH4546: and they burstH5307 throughH1157 the weaponsH7973, and breakH1214 notH3808 offH1214 their course.
They leap uponH935 the cityH5892; they runH7323 uponH935 the wallH2346; they climbH5927 upH5927 intoH935 the housesH1004; they enterH935 in at the windowsH2474 like a thiefH1590.
The earthH776 quaketh beforeH6440 them; the heavensH8064 trembleH7264: the sunH8121 and the moonH3394 are darkened, and the starsH3556 withdrawH622 their shining:
And the LORDH3068 uttereth his voiceH6963 beforeH6440 his armyH4264; for his campH4264 is veryH3966 greatH1419; for he is strongH6099 that executeth his wordH1697: for the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 is greatH1419 and veryH3966 terrible; and who canH4310 abide it?
Yet evenH1571 nowH6258, saith the LORDH3068, turnH7725 ye unto meH7725 with allH3605 your heartH3824, and with fastingH6685, and with weepingH1065, and with mourningH4553:
and rendH7167 your heartH3824, and notH408 your garmentsH899, and turnH7725 unto the LORDH3068 your GodH430, for he is graciousH2587 and fullH7725 of compassionH5162, slowH750 to angerH639, and plenteous in mercyH3068, and repenteth him of the evilH7451.
Who knoweth whether he will notH3045 turnH7725 and repentH7725, and leaveH7604 a blessingH1293 behindH310 him, even a mealH4503 offering and a drink offering unto the LORDH3068 your GodH430?
BlowH8628 the trumpetH7782 in ZionH6726, sanctifyH6942 a fastH6685, callH7121 a solemnH6116 assemblyH6116:
