Context of Revelation 21:24

22And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God the Almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple thereof. 23And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp thereof is the Lamb. And the nations shall walk amidst the light thereof: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory into it. 25And the gates thereof shall in no wise be shut by day (for there shall be no night there): 26and they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations into it:

• Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 24The nations of them which are saved - This is an illusion to the promise that the Gentiles should bring their riches, glory, and excellence, to the temple at Jerusalem, after it should be rebuilt. See Revelation 21:26.Read the comment
• Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 24And the nations of them which are saved - All the nations that are saved; or all the saved considered as nations. This imagery is doubtless derived from that in Isaiah, particularly Isaiah 60:3-9. See the notes on that passage. And the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it - All that they consider as constituting their glory, treasures, crowns…Read the comment
• Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-27Verses 22-27 Perfect and direct communion with God, will more than supply the place of gospel institutions. And what words can more full express the union and co-equality of the Son with the Father, in the Godhead? What a dismal world would this be, if it were not for the light of the sun! What is there in heaven that supplies its place? The glory of God lightens that city, and the Lamb is the Light thereof. God in Christ will be an everlasting Fountain…Read the comment
• Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-25the nations: God’s promise to Abraham comes true (Genesis 12:3; see Isaiah 2:3). In Revelation, the kings of the world often represent God’s enemies (Revelation 6:15; 17:18; 18:3, 9). Now that these enemies are destroyed (Revelation 16:9, 11; 19:1–2, 19–21), the image is of God’s glory shown in those who have repented (Revelation 14:6–7; compare 11:13) and walk with God (5:9; 15:4). The gates that are never closed contrast with ancient times when closed…Read the comment
