Context of Song of Songs 6:3
1Where has your lover gone, O woman of rare beauty? Which way did he turn so we can help you find him? 2My lover has gone down to his garden, to his spice beds, to browse in the gardens and gather the lilies. I am my lover’s, and my lover is mine. He browses among the lilies. 4You are beautiful, my darling, like the lovely city of Tirzah. Yes, as beautiful as Jerusalem, as majestic as an army with billowing banners. 5Turn your eyes away, for they overpower me. Your hair falls in waves, like a flock of goats winding down the slopes of Gilead.

Commentaries on Song of Songs 6:3
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-3The conversation at the end of this poem shows it is not a real event. The dream ends when the young women of Jerusalem ask the woman where her man has gone. The woman tells them not to worry about finding him—he is back in bed with her, enjoying his garden with its spice beds and lilies, which describes sexual intimacy.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 33. In speaking of Jesus Christ to others, she regains her own assurance. Literally, "I am for my beloved ... for me." Reverse order from So 2:16. She now, after the season of darkness, grounds her convictions on His love towards her, more than on hers towards Him (De 33:3). There, it was the young believer concluding that she was His, from the sensible assurance that He was hers.Read the comment
