Context of Song of Songs 6:3
1“Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where is your beloved hiding himself, That we may seek him with you?” 2“My beloved has gone down to his garden, To the beds of balsam, To feed his flock in the gardens And gather lilies. I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine, He who feeds his flock among the lilies.” 4“You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling, As lovely as Jerusalem, As majestic as an army with banners! 5Turn your [flashing] eyes away from me, For they have confused and overcome me; Your hair is like [the shimmering black fleece of] a flock of [Arabian] goats That have descended from Mount Gilead.

Commentaries on Song of Songs 6:3
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-3The conversation at the end of this poem shows it is not a real event. The dream ends when the young women of Jerusalem ask the woman where her man has gone. The woman tells them not to worry about finding him—he is back in bed with her, enjoying his garden with its spice beds and lilies, which describes sexual intimacy.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 33. In speaking of Jesus Christ to others, she regains her own assurance. Literally, "I am for my beloved ... for me." Reverse order from So 2:16. She now, after the season of darkness, grounds her convictions on His love towards her, more than on hers towards Him (De 33:3). There, it was the young believer concluding that she was His, from the sensible assurance that He was hers.Read the comment
