Context of Song of Songs 6:3
1Tell us this, most beautiful of all women. Where has your lover gone? Which way did he go? Tell us, so that we can look for him with you. 2My lover has gone down to his garden. He has gone to his garden of spice trees. He has gone there to walk in the gardens and to pick lilies. My lover belongs to me, and I belong to him. He moves among the lilies with his sheep. 4My dear friend, you are as beautiful as Tirzah. You are as lovely as Jerusalem. You are as wonderful as an army that is waving its flags. 5Turn your eyes away from me. They give me pleasure that is too strong for me! Your hair is like a group of goats that are coming down from Mount Gilead.

Commentaries on Song of Songs 6:3
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-3The conversation at the end of this poem shows it is not a real event. The dream ends when the young women of Jerusalem ask the woman where her man has gone. The woman tells them not to worry about finding him—he is back in bed with her, enjoying his garden with its spice beds and lilies, which describes sexual intimacy.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 33. In speaking of Jesus Christ to others, she regains her own assurance. Literally, "I am for my beloved ... for me." Reverse order from So 2:16. She now, after the season of darkness, grounds her convictions on His love towards her, more than on hers towards Him (De 33:3). There, it was the young believer concluding that she was His, from the sensible assurance that He was hers.Read the comment
