Context of Proverbs 13:17
15A person with good sense is respected; a treacherous person is headed for destruction. 16Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness. An unreliable messenger stumbles into trouble, but a reliable messenger brings healing. 18If you ignore criticism, you will end in poverty and disgrace; if you accept correction, you will be honored. 19It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to attain them.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 17A wicked messenger - The Septuagint: basileuv yrasuev, a bold king; instead of מלאך malach, a messenger, they had read מלך melech, a king: but they are singular in this rendering; none of the other versions have it so. He that betrays the counsels of his government, or the interests of his country, will sooner or later fall into mischief; but he that faithfully and loyally fulfils his mission, shall produce honor and safety to the commonwealth.Read the comment
