Context of Ezekiel 7:6
4I will turn my eyes away and show no pity. I will repay you for all your detestable sins. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 5“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Disaster after disaster is coming your way! The end has come. It has finally arrived. Your final doom is waiting! 7O people of Israel, the day of your destruction is dawning. The time has come; the day of trouble is near. Shouts of anguish will be heard on the mountains, not shouts of joy. 8Soon I will pour out my fury on you and unleash my anger against you. I will call you to account for all your detestable sins.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee - This is similar to the second verse; but there is a paronomasia, or play upon letters and words, which is worthy of note. אליך הקץ הקץ בא בא קץ kets ba, ba hakkets, hekits elayich . קצה katsah signifies to make an end or extremity, by cutting off something, and יקץ yakats signifies to awake from sleep: hence קיץ kits, the summer, as the earth and its productions seem then to awake from the sleep of…Read the comment

They would feel his judgment in their own lives. The Lord, who once revealed himself to his people as “the LORD who heals you” (Exodus 15:26), had now become “the LORD, who strikes the blow.” The day of the Lord had arrived. This is a time when God steps in to judge and act in power (Joel 1:15; Amos 5:18–20).Read the comment
