Context of Ezekiel 15:8
6“And this is what the Sovereign Lord says: The people of Jerusalem are like grapevines growing among the trees of the forest. Since they are useless, I have thrown them on the fire to be burned. 7And I will see to it that if they escape from one fire, they will fall into another. When I turn against them, you will know that I am the Lord. And I will make the land desolate because my people have been unfaithful to me. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 8unfaithfully: See Ezekiel 6:9; 16:17; Hosea 2. Jerusalem had turned away from the Lord and followed idols instead of serving the true God. This was spiritual unfaithfulness. The prophets often describe this sin as breaking faith in a marriage relationship. By worshiping idols, the people broke the covenant (the binding promises between God and his people). Because they broke this covenant, judgment would follow. As a result, the land would become desolate…Read the comment

The Jews were not merely sinners as the other nations, but revolters and apostates. It is one thing to neglect what we know not, but quite another thing to despise what we profess to worship [Jerome], as the Jews did towards God and the law.Read the comment
