Context of Isaiah 10:32
30Lift up your voice, O daughter of Gallim! Cause it to be heard as far as Laish— O poor Anathoth! 31Madmenah has fled, The inhabitants of Gebim seek refuge. As yet he will remain at Nob that day; He will shake his fist at the mount of the daughter of Zion, The hill of Jerusalem. 33Behold, the Lord, The Lord of hosts, Will lop off the bough with terror; Those of high stature will be hewn down, And the haughty will be humbled. 34He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, And Lebanon will fall by the Mighty One.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 32As yet shall he remain - This is still a description of his advancing toward Jerusalem. He would make a station at Nob and remain there a day, meaning, perhaps, “only” one day, such would be his impatience to attack and destroy Jerusalem. At Nob - Nob was a city of Benjamin, inhabited by priests; Nehemiah 11:32. When David was driven away by Saul, he came to this city, and received supplies from Ahimelech the priest; 1 Samuel 21:1-6. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 20-34Verses 20-34 By our afflictions we may learn not to make creatures our confidence. Those only can with comfort stay upon God, who return to him in truth, not in pretence and profession only. God will justly bring this wasting away on a provoking people, but will graciously set bounds to it. It is against the mind and will of God, that his people, whatever happens, should give way to fear. God's anger against his people is but for a moment; and when that…Read the comment

The cities are listed in order from the north toward Jerusalem. The army moves closer and closer to the city. When they reach Jerusalem, they are forced to stop and retreat. God was with Jerusalem. Because of this, Assyria would not succeed. In time, Assyria itself would be destroyed. This passage may refer to Sennacherib’s invasion in 701 BC (see…Read the comment
