Context of Psalms 69:30
28May their names be deleted from the scroll of the living! Do not let their names be listed with the godly! 29I am oppressed and suffering! O God, deliver and protect me! I will sing praises to God’s name! I will magnify him as I give him thanks! 31That will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hooves. 32The oppressed look on – let them rejoice! You who seek God, may you be encouraged!

It was in such circumstances that a large part of the psalms were composed; and since others besides the psalmist are often in such circumstances, the Book of Psalms becomes permanently useful in the church. It is not always necessary now to “compose” a song or…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 30-36Verses 30-36 The psalmist concludes the psalm with holy joy and praise, which he began with complaints of his grief. It is a great comfort to us, that humble and thankful praises are more pleasing to God than the most costly, pompous sacrifices. The humble shall look to him, and be glad; those that seek him through Christ shall live and be comforted.
