Context of Psalms 10:2
1Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you pay no attention during times of trouble? The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; the oppressed are trapped by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up. 3Yes, the wicked man boasts because he gets what he wants; the one who robs others curses and rejects the Lord. 4The wicked man is so arrogant he always thinks, “God won’t hold me accountable; he doesn’t care.”

Commentaries on Psalms 10:2
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 2The wicked in his pride - On no principle of nature or reason can we account for a wicked man persecuting a humble follower of God because of his religion. The devil hates godliness; and the wicked man hates it also because the devil is in his heart.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2The wicked in his pride - Margin: “In the pride of the wicked he doth.” The margin is a literal translation of the Hebrew; but the sense is the same. The meaning is, that the fact that the wicked persecuted the poor, in the case referred to, was to be traced to his pride, haughtiness, ambition; that is, in pursuing his own selfish and ambitious purposes, he became utterly regardless of the rights and comforts of others. He esteemed their interest and…Read the comment
