Context of Genesis 19:24
22Run there quickly, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” (This incident explains why the town was called Zoar.) 23The sun had just risen over the land as Lot reached Zoar. Then the Lord rained down sulfur and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah. It was sent down from the sky by the Lord. 25So he overthrew those cities and all that region, including all the inhabitants of the cities and the vegetation that grew from the ground. 26But Lot’s wife looked back longingly and was turned into a pillar of salt.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 24The Lord rained - brimstone and fire from the Lord - As all judgment is committed to the Son of God, many of the primitive fathers and several modern divines have supposed that the words ויהוה vaihovah and יהוה מאת meeth Yehovah imply, Jehovah the Son raining brimstone and fire from Jehovah the Father; and that this place affords no mean proof of the proper Divinity of our blessed Redeemer. It may be so; but though the point is sufficiently established…Read the comment

The raining down of fire and brimstone from heaven is perfectly accordant with this idea since those very substances, being…Read the comment
