Context of Psalms 60:7
5Save ⌞us⌟ with your powerful hand, and answer us so that those who are dear to you may be rescued. 6God has promised the following through his holiness: “I will triumph! I will divide Shechem. I will measure the valley of Succoth. Gilead is mine. Manasseh is mine. Ephraim is the helmet on my head. Judah is my scepter. 8Moab is my washtub. I will throw my shoe over Edom. I will shout in triumph over Philistia.” 9Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine - That is, My dominion or authority is extended over these regions - Gilead, Manasseh, Ephraim, and Judah. The idea here is substantially the same as in the former verse, that his dominion extended over the country on both sides of the Jordan; or that in the direction of east and west it embraced all that had been promised - “from the great sea to the river Euphrates.” In verse 6, this idea is expressed by selecting…Read the comment
