Context of Psalms 60:7
5That Your beloved ones may be rescued, Save with Your right hand and answer us. 6God has spoken in His holiness [in His promises]: “I will rejoice, I will divide [the land of] Shechem and measure out the Valley of Succoth [west to east]. Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim is My helmet; Judah is My scepter. 8Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe [in triumph]; Over Philistia I raise the shout [of victory].” 9Who will bring me into the besieged city [of Petra]? Who will lead me to Edom?

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine - That is, My dominion or authority is extended over these regions - Gilead, Manasseh, Ephraim, and Judah. The idea here is substantially the same as in the former verse, that his dominion extended over the country on both sides of the Jordan; or that in the direction of east and west it embraced all that had been promised - “from the great sea to the river Euphrates.” In verse 6, this idea is expressed by selecting…Read the comment
