Context of Psalms 60:7
5Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered. 6God has spoken from his sanctuary: “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah is my scepter. 8Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” 9Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine - That is, My dominion or authority is extended over these regions - Gilead, Manasseh, Ephraim, and Judah. The idea here is substantially the same as in the former verse, that his dominion extended over the country on both sides of the Jordan; or that in the direction of east and west it embraced all that had been promised - “from the great sea to the river Euphrates.” In verse 6, this idea is expressed by selecting…Read the comment
