Context of Job 20:25
23Let that misery fill his belly. ⌞God⌟ throws his burning anger at the godless person and makes his wrath come down on him like rain. 24If that person flees from an iron weapon, a bronze bow will pierce him. He pulls it out, and it comes out of his back. The glittering point comes out of his gallbladder. “Terrors come quickly to the godless person: 26Total darkness waits in hiding for his treasure. A fire that no one fans will burn him. Whatever is left in his tent will be devoured. 27Heaven exposes his sin. Earth rises up against him.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 25It is drawn - Or rather, “he draws” - that is, he draws out the arrow that has been shot at him; or it may mean, as Prof. Lee supposes, that he draws, that is, “someone” draws the arrow from its quiver, or the sword from its sheath, in order to smite him. The object is to describe his death, and to show that he should be certainly overtaken with calamity. Zophar, therefore, goes through the process by which he would be shot down, or shows that he could…Read the comment

There is no fence against this, but in Christ, who is the only Covert from the storm and tempest, Is 32:2. Zophar concludes, "This is the portion of a wicked man from God;" it is allotted him. Never was any doctrine better explained, or worse applied, than this by Zophar, who intended to prove Job a hypocrite. Let us receive the good…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 25Terrors: These are terrors of death. Although the specific words "of death" are not in the Hebrew text, they are understood because the description talks about an arrowhead that glistens with blood (literally with gall). This indicates a deadly hit on an important organ in the body (6:4; 16:13; Psalm 7:12). The image conveys the serious threat and intense fear that comes with being in mortal danger.Read the comment
