Context of Job 20:26
24If that person flees from an iron weapon, a bronze bow will pierce him. 25He pulls it out, and it comes out of his back. The glittering point comes out of his gallbladder. “Terrors come quickly to the godless person: Total darkness waits in hiding for his treasure. A fire that no one fans will burn him. Whatever is left in his tent will be devoured. 27Heaven exposes his sin. Earth rises up against him. 28A flood will sweep away his house, a flash flood on the day of his anger.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 26A fire not blown shall consume him - As Zophar is here showing that the wicked cannot escape from the Divine judgments; so he points out the different instruments which God employs for their destruction. The wrath of God - any secret or supernatural curse. The iron weapon - the spear or such like. The bow, and its swift-flying arrow. Darkness - deep horror and perplexity. A fire not blown - a supernatural fire; lightning: such as fell on Korah, and his…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 26All darkness shall be hid in his secret places - The word “darkness” here, as is common, means evidently calamity. The phrase “is hid,” means is treasured up for him. The phrase “in his secret places,” may mean “for his treasures,” or instead of the great treasures which he had laid up for himself. The Apostle Paul has a similar expression, in which, perhaps, he makes an allusion to this place. Romans 2:5, “but, after thy hardness and impenitent heart…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 23-29Verses 23-29 Zophar, having described the vexations which attend wicked practices, shows their ruin from God's wrath. Never was any doctrine better explained, or worse applied, than this by Zophar, who intended to prove Job a hypocrite. Let us receive the good…Read the comment
