Context of Ezekiel 27:33
31They shaved their heads because of you and put on sackcloth. They cried over you with bitterness and with bitter mourning. 32They sang a funeral song for you with loud crying: “Who is like Tyre, the city destroyed in the sea?” Your merchandise was sent overseas. You filled many people with your great wealth and your goods. You made the kings of the earth rich. 34Now you are wrecked in the sea, at the bottom of the sea. Your goods and your whole crew sank with you. 35All those who live on the coasts are horrified because of you. Their kings are terribly afraid. Their faces show their fear.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 26-36Verses 26-36 The most mighty and magnificent kingdoms and states, sooner or later, come down. Those who make creatures their confidence, and rest their hopes upon them, will fall with them: happy are those who have the God of Jacob for their Help, and whose hope is in the Lord their God, who lives for ever. Those who engage in trade should learn to conduct their business according to God's word. Those who possess wealth should remember they are the Lord's…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-36The second part of the prophet’s message to Tyre (see study note on Ezekiel 26:1–28:19) is a funeral song. The song compares Tyre’s past glory with its present loss. It connects with the previous chapter in several ways. Both speak directly to Tyre. Both describe Tyre as a gateway and a center of trade (see Ezekiel 26:1–2). Both end with the same message: Tyre has come to a terrible end and will exist no more (compare Ezekiel 26:21).Read the comment
