Context of 1 Chronicles 16:34
32Let the sea and everything in it roar like thunder. Let the fields and everything in them rejoice. 33Then the trees in the forest will sing with joy in the presence of the Lord when he comes to judge the earth. “Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his mercy endures forever. 35Say, ‘Rescue us, O God our Savior. Gather us and save us from the nations so that we may give thanks to your holy name and make your praise our glory.’ 36Thanks be to the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting.” Then all the people said amen and praised the Lord.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 4-42Verses 4-42 This passage is interposed by the writer of Chronicles between two sentences of the parallel passage in Samuel. It contains a detailed account of the service which David instituted at this time, a service out of which grew the more elaborate service of the temple. The language of much of the passage is remarkably archaic, and there can be no reasonable doubt that it is in the main an extract from a record of the time of David. 1 Chronicles…Read the comment
