Context of Titus 3:2
1Tell the believers there to respect the government and those who have authority. They must remember to obey their rulers. They must always be ready to help other people. They must not say bad things about anyone. They must not quarrel with people. Instead, they should be kind and polite to everyone. 3Before we believed in Christ, we ourselves were fools too. We did not obey God. We believed a false message. We wanted to do many kinds of bad things to make us happy. We could not stop doing them. Every day we did evil things. We were jealous of other people. People hated us, and we hated each other. 4But then God, our Saviour, showed clearly that he is very kind. He showed that he loves all people.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2To speak evil of no man - Greek, “to blaspheme ( ͂ blasphēmeincompare the notes at Matthew 9:3) no one.” Doddridge renders it, “calumniate no one.” The idea is, that we are not to slander, revile, or defame anyone. We are not to say anything to anyone, or of anyone, which will do him injury. We are never to utter anything which we know to be false about him or to give such a coloring to his words or conduct as to do him wrong in any way. We should always…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-11The emphasis on sound teaching continues (1:9; 2:1). Now Paul shifts his focus to how the Christian community relates to society in general (compare 1 Timothy 2:2–4). As in Titus 2:1–15, God’s instructions for his people in 3:1–2 are based on his interactions with them (3:3–7; compare study note on 2:11–15). Paul then instructs Titus to avoid pointless arguments and to insist on beneficial teaching (3:8–11).Read the comment
