Context of Psalms 5:10
8Lord, help me to follow your right way. My enemies are waiting to attack me. Show the right way clearly to me, so that I do not go the wrong way. 9My enemies never speak what is true. They only want to destroy people. Their mouth has the smell of an open grave. Their tongues say nice things, but they are all lies! God, say that they are guilty! Let their own wicked ideas bring punishment to them. Send them away because they do so many bad things. Yes, they have turned against you. 11Please make people who turn to you happy. Make them always sing with joy, because you keep them safe. Take care of those who are faithful to you. Then they will be really happy. 12Lord, you bless those who live in a right way. Your love is like a shield that keeps them safe.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10Destroy thou them, O God - All these apparently imprecatory declarations should be translated in the future tense, to which they belong; and which shows them to be prophetic. Thou Wilt destroy them; thou Wilt cast them out, etc.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1-12Verses 1-12 :Title Upon Nehiloth - The title of Psalm 4:1-8 is, “upon Neginoth.” As that refers to a musical instrument, so it is probable that this does, and that the idea here is that this psalm was intended particularly for the music-master that had special charge of this instrument, or who presided over those that played on it. Perhaps the idea is that this psalm was specially designed to be accompanied with this instrument. The word here, Nehiloth…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-12Verses 7-12 David prayed often alone, yet was very constant in attendance on public worship. The mercy of God should ever be the foundation both of our hope and of our joy, in every thing wherein we have to do with him. Let us learn to pray, not for ourselves only, but for others; grace be with all that love Christ in sincerity. The Divine blessing comes down upon us through Jesus Christ, the righteous or just One, as of old it did upon Israel through…Read the comment
