Context of Micah 7:16
14Rule us and lead us, Lord. You are like a man who leads his sheep. He uses a strong stick to lead them. We are your own special people. We are like a group of sheep that lives by itself in a forest. There is good grass all round them. Let your sheep eat grass in Bashan and Gilead, as they did a long time ago. 15Lord, you did great things long ago, when you brought us out of the land of Egypt. Do great things like that again. The people in other countries will see what you do. They will understand that they are not really powerful. So then they will be ashamed. They will be like deaf people and dumb people. 17They will be like snakes that move along the ground. They will be afraid and they will eat dust like snakes. They will come carefully out of their safe places, because they are afraid of you, the Lord our God. 18No other god is like you. You chose us to be your people. And you decide not to remember what we have done wrong. Not many of your people remain and we have done bad things. But you choose to forget those bad things. You will not always be angry, because you want very much to be kind.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 16The nations shall see and be confounded - Whether the words in these verses ( Micah 7:15-17;) be applied to the return from the Babylonish captivity, or to the prosperity of the Jews under the Maccabees, they may be understood as ultimately applicable to the final restoration of this people, and their lasting prosperity under the Gospel.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 16The nations shall see - God had answered, what He would give to His own people, to see. Micah takes up the word, and says, what effect this sight should have upon the enemies of God and of His people. The world should still continue to be divided between the people of God and their adversaries. Those who are converted pass from the one to the other; but the contrast remains. Assyria, Babylon, Egypt, pass away or become subject to other powers; but the…Read the comment

God promises in answer to this prayer, he will do that for them which shall be repeating the miracles of former ages. As their sin brought them…Read the comment
