Context of Mark 6:10
8Jesus told the disciples, ‘Only take a stick for the journey, nothing else. Do not take any bread or a bag. Do not take any money in your pockets. 9Wear shoes but do not take extra clothes. In each town, stay at the first house that you go into. Continue to stay there until you leave that town. 11Perhaps you might go to a town where the people do not accept you. They will not listen to you. So you should leave that town. Clean that town's dirt off your feet. Then it will be clear that they have done something wrong.’ 12So the 12 apostles went out. They told people that they must change the way that they live. They must stop doing wrong things.

Commentaries on Mark 6:10
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 8-11Verses 8-11 See these verses fully explained in the notes at Matthew 10:9-15. In Matthew 10:5 they were commanded not to go among the Gentiles or Samaritans. Mark omits that direction, perhaps, because he was writing for the “Gentiles,” and the direction might create unnecessary difficulty or offence. Perhaps he omits it also because the command was given for a temporary purpose, and was not in force at the time of his writing.Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-13Verses 7-13 Though the apostles were conscious to themselves of great weakness, and expected no wordly advantage, yet, in obedience to their Master, and in dependence upon his strength, they went out. They did not amuse people with curious matters, but told them they must repent of their sins, and turn to God. The servants of Christ may hope to turn many from darkness unto God, and to heal souls by the power of the Holy Ghost.Read the comment
