Context of John 21:13
11Simon Peter got back into the boat and he pulled the net onto the shore. It was full of 153 big fish. There were so many fish, but the net had not broken. 12Jesus said to them, ‘Come here and eat breakfast.’ None of the disciples was brave enough to ask him, ‘Who are you?’ They knew that it was the Lord. So Jesus took the bread and he gave it to them. Then he did the same with the fish. 14After Jesus died and became alive again, this was now the third time that he showed himself to his disciples. 15When they had finished eating, Jesus spoke to Simon Peter. He said, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these other disciples love me?’ Peter answered, ‘Yes Lord, you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 13Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread - It is not said that Jesus himself ate with them, but he gave them food. The design of this interview seems to have been to convince them that he had truly risen from the dead. Hence, he performed a miracle before they suspected that it was he, that there might be no room to say that they had ascribed to him the power of the miracle through friendship and collusion with him. The miracle was such as to satisfy them of…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 12-13None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?”: Jesus looked different after God raised him from the dead. When he gave them bread and fish, their doubts disappeared (compare 6:11; Luke 24:30).Read the comment
