Context of Job 22:19
17They said to God, “Leave us alone!” They thought that Almighty God could not hurt them. 18But it was God who gave them many good things to enjoy. So I cannot accept the ideas of wicked people. God punishes wicked people. When righteous people see that happen, they are happy. Good people then laugh at wicked people. 20They say, “God has destroyed our enemies. He has burned all their valuable things in a fire.” 21So, Job, agree to accept God's ways. Have peace in your mind about him. Then you will again have good success.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 19The righteous see it, and are glad - They see God's judgments on the incorrigibly wicked, and know that the Judge of all the earth does right; hence they rejoice in all the dispensations of his providence.Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 15-20Verses 15-20 Eliphaz would have Job mark the old way that wicked men have trodden, and see what the end of their way was. It is good for us to mark it, that we may not walk therein. But if others are consumed, and we are not, instead of blaming them, and lifting up ourselves, as Eliphaz does here, we ought to be thankful to God, and take it for a warning.Read the comment

Eliphaz's perspective overlooked God's wish "that the wicked should turn from their ways and live" (see Ezekiel 33:11).Read the comment

While in the act of denying that God can do them any good or harm, they are cut off by Him. Eliphaz hereby justifies himself and the friends for their conduct to Job: not derision of the wretched, but joy at the vindication of God's ways (Psa 107:42; Re 15:3; 16:7; 19:1, 2).Read the comment
