Context of Isaiah 26:7
5He brings down low the proud people who live in high places. He destroys their cities. He knocks down their cities so that they fall to the ground and become dust. 6The poor people and the helpless people will walk all over it. Righteous people walk on a path that is flat. You make their path straight, Lord. 8Yes, Lord, as we follow the path of your justice, we wait for you to help us. We really want people to know that you are great. We want them to praise your name. 9During the night, I think about you a lot. When morning arrives, I want to be near to you in my spirit. When you come to judge people on the earth, then people will understand your justice.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7The way of the just is uprightness - The Hebrew is literally, The way to the just is uprightness;‘ the word way‘ probably refers to God‘s way, or his dealings with the righteous. The sentiment is, that his dealings with them are just; that though they are afflicted and oppressed, yet that his ways are right, and they will yet perceive it. This is language supposed to be used by the captive Jews after they had seen the proud city of Babylon taken, and…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 5-11Verses 5-11 The way of the just is evenness, a steady course of obedience and holy conversation. And it is their happiness that God makes their way plain and easy. It is our duty, and will be our comfort, to wait for God, to keep up holy desires toward him in the darkest and most discouraging times. Our troubles must never turn us from God; and in the darkest, longest night of affliction, with our souls must we desire him; and this we must wait and pray…Read the comment
